My Physical Therapy Journey After A Vehicular Accident

· Paediatrics Near Me,Physiotherapist SG,Physical Therapy SG,Physio Clinic SG,physical therapist

The first time I prayed to God as an adult was when my husband lost control of the car. And I am forever thankful that the only burden that happened to me after the accident was the pain I felt every time I visited for physical therapy in Singapore because the worst things could happen after that night.

I can remember that night vividly in my memories. My husband picked me up from the office nearly midnight after pulling off overtime at work. I usually take public transport after work, but since I was too tired that night, I asked him to pick me up.

The main road was quite less crowded at midnight. I remember closing my eyes, resting my head on the window inside the car as a Norah Jones song played softly on the radio. A loud screech and forceful swerving of the car break the soft humming of the radio. Before I could open my eyes to see what was happening, a strong impact hit my face, forcefully sending my head and upper torso on the headrest and backrest of the seat.

My Vehicular Accident Injuries

A couple of hours after I woke up in the hospital, I felt a sharp pain that started from my neck going to my shoulders and back. My neck was stiff, and I could hear ringing in my ears. I also had a massive headache pounding the base of my skull that made me feel dizzy and nauseous. My arms were pretty numb as well.

A doctor came to assess my condition. After his physical evaluation and asking me a few questions, he said that I had whiplash and concussion. That was the only thing I could remember from the conversation because my head was really hazy.

After two days in the hospital, our doctor recommended visiting a physical therapist in Singapore to treat the whiplash.

Physical Therapy Week One

After searching for a physiotherapy clinic near me, my sister drove my husband and me to a physio clinic in Singapore called Edge Healthcare one week after the accident.

The first thing we did was submit the scan results we got from the hospital to our physical therapist in Singapore.  After examining our scans, which gave a good result, by the way, he started physically examining us.

He asked us to try to move heads from left to right and up and down to evaluate the range of movement. My neck still felt stiff back then, that I could barely move them. There was sharp pain shooting from my nape to my shoulders and back every time I tried to move the slightest.

In the first week, our physical therapist in Singapore asked us to do the ice treatment. Ice treatment helps reduce the inflammation of the muscles, joints, and other soft tissues in the neck and shoulder area.

We also received custom massages that targeted our neck muscles, tendons, and ligaments on the first week of our rehabilitation in the physio clinic in Singapore.

Physical Therapy Week Two

In the second week, the neck massage still continued. It was less painful than the first time. Our physical therapist in Singapore suggested ultrasound treatment to improve my blood circulation and further relieve the inflammation. My husband and I opted for ice treatment since it worked fine with us.

We also started side bending our necks and rotating our heads from left to right to test the range of motion, at the same time, to exercise our necks.

My husband and I noticed a massive improvement in the area. A week before, our necks were too stiff to move. It was painful as well. In the second week, there was still pain, but at least the mobility of our neck was much better.

I also learned that Edge Healthcare, our physio clinic in Singapore, also accommodates paediatrics physiotherapy. So instead of searching for paediatrics near me for your kid's injury rehabilitation, I recommend checking Edge Healthcare.

Road To Healing

The significant condition improvement after two weeks of rehabilitation marked our road to healing. We started returning to our old routines, but we were still careful.

We only visit for physical therapy in Singapore once a week since most of the exercise and stretches can be done at home.

After weeks of manual therapies, our necks came back to their normal condition three months later.

Conclusion

Our road to rehabilitation was not smooth at all. It was a bumpy road, but thanks to the guidance of our physio clinic in Singapore, we were able to overcome whiplash injury.

I just want to remind everyone that every case is unique. Our whiplash was completely healed in three months; others may recover earlier or later than that.

If you are looking for a physio clinic in Singapore, I highly recommend visiting Edge Healthcare. Their therapists gave an excellent job at guiding us through our journey. Book an appointment with Edge Healthcare today.
