Visiting a Podiatrist for My Bunions

· Medical,Clinic

Experiencing foot pain is no laughing matter. No matter what you do, whether you walk or run, it hurts a lot. I know this because I had that too. Six months ago, I suffered from bad bunions that I thought I needed surgery. Good thing I did not have to, and that all thanks to the podiatrist who helped me overcome that pain. Here let me share with you what happened.

Okay, to begin with, never in my life, I have imagined that I would visit a foot doctor—podiatrist. The truth is, I have no idea they exist! I know it might sound ridiculous. But I did not mean that way. It just so happens that I am fond of going to hospitals or clinics. That was why I did not know there was that kind of specialisation.

Anyway, I visited a podiatry clinic because of one thing. I needed help with my bunions. It bothers me with my work and personal life. Whenever I wear shoes, it hurts a lot more. You could see from afar there was a bulging bump beside my big toe. I never wanted to admit that either. But I guess I have to since I am going to tell you how bad it hurts when I am wearing shoes.

Ever since that bump shows at the side of my toe have been a bit tender to touch. Touching it lightly, I feel like it hurt. I have no idea why my feet look a bit deformed now compared to when I was younger. It might sound silly. But compared to others, I always wondered why my feet look like these. Yet I always shrug them off since I am [terribly] busy at work.

At first, I planned to ignore it. But then, I feel a slight discomfort which escalated into pain. Day after day, I started to become a bit worried. Whenever I walk or wear my shoes, something stabs my feet. It hurts a lot that I wanted to cry. Thus, I thought maybe drinking some painkillers would help to ease the pain. It does, but only for a while. After ignoring it again for another week, I noticed it began to look quite different and scary. Not only it swells. It was reddish, too.

Searching for Podiatrist Clinic
While I was resting at home that weekend, my maid then told me it might be severe since it looked so bad compared to the last few weeks. She said I should seek a podiatrist. I did not know what it was but when I looked up to the Internet. I found out they are food doctors, and they specialise in treating this condition of mine.

I also looked up for a reliable podiatry centre in Singapore and found this clinic on the East Coast. Perfect since it is only a few blocks away from my condo. I booked an appointment right away. Good thing, there was still an available slot for that day.

Upon entering the podiatry clinic, the staff were pretty kind. They rest assured me that my feet will become better. I love their positivity. It encouraged a lot not to lose hope about this pain.

It is Bunions!
A few minutes later, I met up with this podiatrist. It was then I had confirmed that bump is called bunions. He said that I do not need to worry that bunions only need surgery if they are left untreated. Thus, since mine was not that bad, I only need conventional treatment. One of which is wearing ergonomic shoes with custom insoles. This treatment will break up the calcium deposits collected on that area and will stretch out to the ligament and tendons evenly.

This podiatrist in Singapore said I was lucky because If I ignored it again for another two weeks, then I [really] do need surgery to get it treated. Good thing I listened to my maid who convinced me to seek a food doctor.

The Results
Three months later, I noticed some improvement. I am thinking maybe this was because of me wearing custom insoles every day. I have to admit that I am impressed by how the podiatrist handled my case. Although it was not as severe as others, he did still manage to reduce the pain. He said, I only need to wear it for three more months, and my bunion would no longer be there. I trusted what he said, and here I am. I no longer have bunions. My feet do not hurt either.

If you were wondering which podiatrist clinic I visited and had my treatment, I was East Coast Podiatry. Consider going there too, and you will surely experience and successful treatment as I did.
